PENN TWP — The Succop Conservancy has a new name: Succop Nature Park.
The Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania renamed the property to better reflect Audubon’s connection to nature and the property’s long standing openness to the public, the society announced Thursday.
The park is at 185 W. Airport Road at the corner of Route 8.
Open from dawn to dusk, with dog-friendly walking trails, two ponds, and natural spaces used for outdoor activities and education, Succop Nature Park has a long history in Butler County.
When it was still owned by the Succop family, the public was invited to use the property for picnics and even to collect eggs from the on-site hens.
In the coming months, the society will announce planned upgrades to the park.
