1:49 a.m. Monday — Christopher A. Waggett, 36, was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, Kathleen Ihlenfled, at their home on East Boyd Street. Waggett is accused of slapping and grabbing her face during an argument.Ihlenfeld eventually was able to run to a neighbor's house and call police, according to court documents. Waggett admitted arguing with his girlfriend but denied hitting her. Officers said Ihlenfeld's cheeks appeared to be “very red” and she had a small cut inside of her mouth.Waggett was arraigned on a charge of simple assault, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $2,500 bail.5:07 p.m. Sunday — A nine-time convicted shoplifter was arrested again, this time for allegedly trying to steal $24 worth of food items from Friedman's supermarket on West Brady Street.A search of the suspect, John F. Liebau, 50, of Butler, also turned up a Suboxone strip for which he did not have a prescription.Liebau was arraigned on a felony count of retail theft and a misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $1,500 bail.Police in court documents said his criminal record shows nine convictions for retail theft.

Monday — Police charged John D. Vedilago, 36, of Butler with allegedly stealing 148 items, valued at nearly $700, from the Butler Commons' Walmart about 10:50 p.m. June 23. Vedilago is charged with theft and receiving stolen property.3:16 p.m. Friday — Stacy L. Bastian, 42, of Renfrew was caught allegedly shoplifting 19 items valued at $92 from the Dollar General store at Butler Commons. Bastian is charged with retail theft.Friday — Tyler A. Irvine, 30, and Valerie Downs-Ulisky, 23, both of Butler, allegedly shoplifted $533 worth of merchandise at the Walmart at Butler Commons. Both are charged with retail theft, conspiracy to commit retail theft and receiving stolen property.July 23 — James E. Walborn, 34, of Butler was charged with drugged driving stemming from a traffic stop about 1:45 a.m. July 10 on Route 422.In addition to driving under the influence of a controlled substance, Walborn is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, driving at an unsafe speed, driving an unregistered vehicle, reckless driving and careless driving.

8:18 p.m. Monday — William K. Jones, 25, of Winston, N.C., was arrested on bench warrant after he was stopped for speeding on South Center Street. Police also cited him for driving without a license.The warrant was issued June 18 when Jones failed to appear at his formal arraignment in Mercer County Court on a charge of simple assault. Jones was placed in the Mercer County Jail and later released after posting $5,000 bail.July 21 — A thief stole a cell phone from an apartment in the 200 block of South Broad Street. The phone, valued at $200, was stolen between July 17 and 21.

2:32 a.m. Sunday — Rachel Raducz, 22, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 8 near Hansen Avenue in Butler Township.5:32 a.m. July 17 — Jesse P. Stitt, 19, of Adrian, Armstrong County, was hurt when he fell asleep at the wheel of his car and crashed into a utility pole and the end of a guardrail on Marwood Road just north of Gerner Road in Winfield Township. Police cited Stitt for careless driving.July 15 — A thief stole two yellow gold wedding bands, valued at a combined $1,300, from a home in the 400 block of Portman Road in Summit Township. One of the bands had two rows of diamonds and the other had three rows of diamonds.The wedding bands were taken between June 24 and July 15. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.

2:45 a.m. Monday — Adam T. Norris, 31, of Adrian was arrested on felony and other charges after he allegedly fired a gunshot during an altercation with another man at a home on Adrian Sherrett Road in Washington Township, Armstrong County.Police said that Norris and Robert Wolfe, 33, of Adrian had been fighting after which the suspect left the home. He returned with a handgun. Norris kicked in a door and the alleged victim ran out to get away.“While Wolfe was running to a place of safety,” according to a police report, “Norris shot one round into the ground.” No injuries were reported.Norris was arraigned on a charges of aggravated assault, terroristic threats, reckless endangerment, simple assault, criminal mischief and harassment. He is in the Armstrong County Jail on $10,000 bail.Monday — A 37-year-old Templeton man, who police did not identify, is suspected of stealing scrap metal from a home in Boggs Township. The scrap was taken between 11:50 a.m. and 1 p.m.8 p.m. Sunday — Raymond E. Toy, 41, of East Brady was arrested for allegedly violating a 44-year-old woman's protection from abuse order at a home in Sugar Creek Township. Toy was place in the Armstrong County Jail on $5,000 bail.
