Final liquor license OK means Harmony Inn can open

HARMONY — The Harmony Inn has received an extension on its state liquor license that will allow it to open soon.

Owner Bob McCaferty said Thursday that the extension, allowing the business to serve alcohol on the front porch and second floor and to store kegs in the basement, was granted Monday.

“The whole building is now legal, and we’re excited to be legal,” McCafferty said.

McCaferty said he has been working on hiring and training a staff to run the restaurant, and he hopes to be open in a few weeks.

The front porch on Thursday night will host a concert featuring KardaZ, the third of four free summer concerts sponsored by the borough. For the concert, the bar will be able to have beer on tap and be able serve drinks on the porch for the first time.

The historic building was initially granted its liquor license in late May after a long struggle with state agencies.

Though McCaferty hired contractors to renovate the building and prepare it to open, it was still waiting on the liquor license extension before hiring a full staff and setting an official opening date.
