More tax

Regarding “1-mill tax increase to remain” (July 8, Page 1) for the Butler School District.

Superintendent Dale Lumley says “get the tax cards out.”

Board member Don Pringle says what if these state funds had come later? We wouldn’t even be talking about reopening the budget.

My question is: What if the funds had been cut? Would it have been too late then to reopen the budget?

How much can we take? The state Legislature refuses to fix the state pension system. The school board is on a tax-and-spend budget.

People on fixed incomes cannot keep paying more and more to fund these programs.

What is the answer?

Start with one-term limits for state legislators so we can get these slugs to do something for the people who elect them instead of worrying about their pensions and getting re-elected.

For local school boards: Remember who elected you and who your work for.

Please stop the bleeding.
