It’s very disappointing that the Butler School Board has raised property taxes again.

Led by Don Pringle and John Conrad, this board has never seen a tax increase it didn’t like.

The majority of school districts in Butler County held the line on taxes this year and make a good effort to do so annually. Butler makes no such effort.

The school district has been losing enrollment for many years. Coupled with the nine-month work year of most of its employees, one would think there might be a chance to hold down taxes, as other districts do, but no.

The board has approved increases whether economic times are good or bad. For Butler, no matter what funding it receives, it’s never enough.
