Thomas J. Schlatz Jr.

Thomas J. Schlatz Jr., 73, of Bridgewater, Mass., formerly of Butler, passed away peacefully June 8.

Tom grew up in Butler and was the loving son of the late Thomas J. Schlatz Sr. and Caroline (Karabogdan) Schlatz.

After graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, proudly serving from 1959 to 1963.

He married Joan V. Moruzzi and the two raised their four children in Bridgewater.

Tom worked for many years as an electrician for IBEW Local 223, retiring at age 62. He was passionate about hunting, fishing, woodcarving, and most importantly, his grandchildren.

Thomas was the husband of 50 years to Joan Schlatz of Bridgewater, and devoted father of Donna M. Pinto and her husband, John, of Lakeville, Mass., Patricia A. Schlatz of Bridgewater, Thomas J. Schlatz III and his wife, Cynthia, of Bridgewater, and John A. Schlatz and his wife, Lisa, of Bridgewater. He was also the loving “Grampy” of Wade, Wes, Wyatt, Nicholas, Stephanie, Laci, Drew and Luke, and the brother of Richard Schlatz of Butler.
