FORWARD TWP — The two drivers in a fatal crash this morning on Route 68 have been identified as Hannah D. Swigart, 36, of Butler and Michael H. Reid, 38, formerly of Butler Township.

State police investigators said they are looking into the possibility that the crash could have been deliberate since Butler Township police had contacted Reid by cell phone and Reid reportedly told them that he would be dead by morning.

Township police got involved because Reid earlier had tried to break into his ex-girlfriend’s house and she had called police. He had driven off before police got there, but they were able to call him.

Police said Reid was highly intoxicated, so investigators also are considering that the wreck could be have been a drunken driver accident.
