Bessie Wilma Bayer

Bessie Wilma Bayer, 86, of Butler passed away Sunday at Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.

She was born on Oct. 19, 1927, in St. Petersburg, Pa., the daughter of the late Wilbur Lawrence Shoemaker and Anna (Boyer) Shoemaker.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Women of the Moose where she had a C/R Star Degree.

Surviving are her daughter, Rebecca and her husband, James Petsinger, of Butler; three sons, Frank R. Bayer of Irwin, John J. Bayer of Butler, and E. Niven Bayer of Salisbury, N.C.; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, and her sister, Mary Louise Best of Rimersburg.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. “Mink” Bayer, who passed away on April 6, 1996, and a sister.

Bayer — The friends of Bessie Wilma Bayer, who passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014, will be received at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.Services will be at the First United Methodist Church, 200 E. North St., Butler, at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Rob Gillgrist officiating.
