FORWARD TWP — Local firefighters responded to a fire in a vacant house Friday morning.

A passer-by called 911 to report that smoke was coming from a vacant brick house at 176 Glade Run Road around 7 a.m., Callery Fire Department Chief Curt Huffman said.

Evans City firefighters were called to the scene and were assisted by firefighters from the Adams Township, Callery and Penn Township departments.

The fire was under control in about 20 minutes, Huffman said.

A state fire marshal was called to the scene to determine the fire’s cause.
