Butler County's great daily newspaper

A caring place

My thanks to everyone for the great care my mother received at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was a resident for less than four months, but in that short time I was impressed by the level of care she received by the Sunnyview and VNA Hospice staff.

The new owners and people of Butler should know what excellent care the staff at Sunnyview provides.

With a county-owned facility I was not sure what to expect. I quickly found that although the facility is not state-of-the-art, the staff are the most dedicated health care professionals I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. The third floor staff is tops in my book. My mother received compassionate care from her very first day there, right through her final day.

Healthcare professionals receive little praise and nursing home staff have the most difficult job in the industry. I don’t know how the staff at Sunnyview could possibly enjoy their work, but they honestly appear to. It has to be a very tough job dealing with patients day in and day out, knowing the majority of them will never be leaving.

A special thanks to Tina McCune, LPN, for treating my mother like her own. This seems to be the philosophy of the entire staff. I hope the new owners will continue that work ethic and realize what a great staff they already have in place.
