ATV-truck crash kills Eau Claire man

An Eau Claire man was killed Tuesday when an ATV driven by a 14-year-old boy collided with a tractor-trailer in the borough, state police said.

Shane Scott, 20, died in the crash at 1:12 p.m. at the intersection of South Washington Street, which is State Route 38, and Garner Street, troopers said.

A police report did not indicated if the teen, who along with Scott was thrown from the ATV, required hospital treatment.

Police said the teen was driving the ATV west on Garner Road when he lost control and went onto South Washington Street and collided with the northbound tractor-trailer driven by Jesse Sayers, no age available, of New Bethlehem, Clarion County.

A medical helicopter initially was called, but the patient was taken by an ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital.

Route 38 was shut down for a while because of the accident.

Emlenton ambulance, the Eau Claire Volunteer Fire Department and the Marion Township Volunteer Fire Company also were at the scene.
