SCOTT TWP, Lawrence County — Emergency divers found the body of a missing 26-year-old woman Wednesday after a nearly eight-hour search.

State police said the body of Nancy E. List of Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, was found at 2:25 p.m. in a private pond near County Line Road.

Nancy List went missing about 8 p.m. Tuesday night after a small aluminum boat she was in capsized, police said. She was fishing with her husband, Michael W. List, 29, at the time.

Michael List told police he saw his wife go under water but could not find her. He went to a home nearby to call for help.

Authorities described the pond as five acres and 6 to 7 feet deep.

Emergency units, including a state police helicopter, searched for Nancy List Tuesday night until poor visibility ended the search at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday

Crews returned to search at 7 a.m. Wednesday.

The Butler County Water Rescue Team sent six members and two inflatable boats to aid in the search Wednesday.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
