The motto “In God We Trust” will be displayed in the public meeting room of the Butler County Government Center.

The county commissioners this morning voted to install a plaque in the first floor room where voting meetings are held.

Commissioners Dale Pinkerton and Bill McCarrier supported the move, which was prompted by a nationwide initiative from the nonprofit organization In God We Trust-America Inc.

Commissioner Jim Eckstein opposed the motion, saying he believes in the separation of church and state.
