Bicyclist hurt when he is hit by a deer

PENN TWP — A Gibsonia man riding a bicycle on Jones Road was hit by a deer Sunday morning.
Allen R. Kinkead, 65, is at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh today. His condition was unavailable.
Township Patrolman Jack Ripper said Kinkead was part of a group of bicyclists traveling down the road when the deer struck him.
“(It) waffled right into his bicycle,” Ripper said.
He said Kinkead was bleeding from various parts of his body, including his head. He was wearing a helmet.
“They think it was a possible skull fracture,” Ripper said.
He said the deer fled. Ripper did not know if the deer was a buck or doe.
“It was an instance of being in the wrong place at the wrong time,” Ripper said.
Butler Ambulance took Kinkead to the Rittswood Golf Club, where a medical helicopter flew him to the hospital.
The accident was reported to the Butler County 911 dispatch center at 11:02 a.m. Emergency crews cleared the scene at 11:58 a.m.
