When you are part of a volunteer organization and give 40-some years to that organization, your life becomes very much a part of it. You meet many individuals and become friends and importantly, you trust them.
You also meet some who look you in the eye and pretend to be your friend, then when you look the other way, you find a knife in your back. That is what happened to me.
For many years I have volunteered much time working for the community and the Petrolia Volunteer Fire Department. I am proud of it; but, some thought it was time for me to stop. For reasons unknown to me, other than the fact they wanted control of everything, they found a way to vote me out as treasurer by adding a write-in name on the ballot.
I want to thank everyone in Petrolia and surrounding areas for the support that was given to me over my 40-some years as treasurer of the fire department.
