TIONESTA, Forest County — A 38-year-old Butler County man will spend the rest of his life behind prison bars for fatally stabbing his one-time fiancee and her boyfriend last year.

Scott A. Black has been sentenced in Forest County Court to serve two consecutive life terms in the deaths of Marcelle I. Edwards, 42, of Tionesta and Donald L. Shay, 43, of Leechburg, Armstrong County.

There is no chance for parole.

The sentence came the same day that Black abruptly pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder in the double slaying April 27, 2013.

By pleading guilty, Black avoided a possible death penalty trial.
