Northern part of county to get more snow tonight
Snow returns to Butler County tonight, but how much depends on what area.
The National Weather Service forecasts 6 to 8 inches of snow in the northern part of the county with less snow and freezing rain and sleet in the southern half.
“We’re going to see a wintry mix,” said meteorologist Fred McMullen this morning.
McMullen said that trend will continue farther south into Allegheny County.
“They’re having more ice than snow,” he said.
McMullen said the precipitation will begin after 8 p.m. today and end by noon Wednesday.
The forecast low tonight for Butler is 24. McMullen said the low temperature will drop to the teens later in the week, but there is no additional snow expected.
The good news is the bitter below-zero weather that hit the region last month is not expected to return.
“I don’t see any signs of that,” McMullen said.
