Thursday Butler mayor announces new police chief



Mayor Tom Donaldson announced today that Lt. Ronald Brown will become the new police chief, effective Sunday.
Brown will replace Chief Ronald Fierst, who has had the position since March 2012.
“This is strictly a management decision,” Donaldson said.
Brown has been with the department since 1990.
Fierst, who started with the city in 1979, will return to his former rank of captain.
With Fierst returning to his previous rank, the city will have two captains.
Donaldson said Fierst will serve as an administrative captain, while Capt. David Dalcamo will be more involved with the detectives.
