Fracking fears

Regarding the letter by Thomas V. Cook (“Why Anti-Energy,” Jan. 5).

Responsible people do watch out for the chemical exposure in their lives. How does the writer know whether those writing articles against fracking consume fast food or dye their hair?

One thing is for certain: None of us really knows whether this fracking process is going to come back to haunt most or all of us. If it does, the economic and health consequences are going to be catastrophic. We do know that fracking has the potential of doing so.

We also know it is already damaging some folks, financially and healthwise. What does the writer consider those people to be? They are people, just like him. Are they acceptable collateral damage?

Since when did it become morally acceptable for the few to reap financial gain while damaging others and potentially damaging the masses?

The writer seems like a concerned individual. I would suggest he start an organization that collects donations from everyone who has received financial gain from fracking. This money could be used to make everyone whole who has been damaged by fracking.
