I read your editorial every Christmas Eve with great pleasure and many memories of Virginia O’Hanlon and my childhood in New York City.

I knew her as a teacher and then principal of my elementary school in Manhattan during the Depression years.

One of my classmates told me all about her. She was a kind, likable person and a wonderful teacher. I was indeed fortunate to have known her.
