Pullman's proud past

As the year comes to a close, I extend a special word of thanks to all who supported my endeavors the past five years as stadium and field director of Pullman Park.

Many volunteers and businesses contributed their time, money, equipment, materials and services over the years to make a positive impact and elevate Pullman Park facilities to attract a variety of sports events.

As a result of their efforts, nearly 300 games (averaging 1.5 games per day) were played in 2013. This was our goal to be successful.

Our dedicated concession manager and game announcer, too, were key players in the day-to-day operation that fans appreciated.

The daily support of the jail release and community service personnel, performing park maintenance and janitorial services, was significant to our success. Functioning as a team and setting common goals enabled Pullman Park to run smoothly and efficiently day to day.

I was proud to be part of the Pullman team and giving back to the community like all the others before me since 1934.

Over the years, I have collected photos and researched the history of Pullman Park and now have 34 pages of Pullman Park history from 1934 through August 2013 documented.

Pullman Park has a special place in the hearts of so many of us over the past 79 years, and I was fortunate and blessed to be part of the legacy.
