Toys honor deceased

There have been numerous articles in the Butler Eagle since Feb. 18 about the heroin addict who was driving home from a methadone clinic while under the influence of five controlled substances when he wrecked and caused the death of our family member, Mark Bishop.

Our hearts are heavy as we face the holidays without Mark this year. Mark had much to be grateful for during his lifetime, and he also thought of those less fortunate by volunteering at the Veterans Administration hospital and with Toys for Tots.

On Nov. 24, I saw an article in the Butler Eagle about Penn United’s support of Toys for Tots. This article didn’t warrant the front page but it meant the world to Mark’s family. The article stated that Mark’s coworkers at Penn United, through various fundraisers, donated $6,000 in toys in Mark’s memory to Toys for Tots and that a Penn United client donated all the batteries for the toys.

Mark Bishop would be so proud and grateful to have his memory honored in this way and so are we.

The kindness and generosity of the employees at Penn United remind us all of the true meaning of the holidays. Thank you and may God bless every one of you.
