BC3 adds more security

BUTLER TWP — Butler County Community College will be upgrading locks on classroom doors next month, providing uniform locks to improve security in case of an emergency situation.

The $51,500 project was approved by BC3 trustees at their monthly board meeting Wednesday. Improvements would include replacing hardware on existing doors throughout campus, like knobs, handles and locks.

“This is symbolic of everything we've done with campus safety,” said Nick Neupauer, BC3 President.

Since taking the presidency in 2007, the school has armed campus police, provided emergency text messages to students and added campus video surveillance, among other projects.
