Butler County's great daily newspaper

Who's the bully?

Regarding the letters “Final Offer Was Final” and “Disrespects Vets,” published Nov. 14.

To say that the SEIU members “held up” the taxpayers of Butler County is outrageous and absurd. The 200-plus members of the SEIU 1199P are taxpayers also. We were in negotiations with the county for months. Do you know what it means to negotiate?

I attended all but two of these meetings. If anyone was being bullied, it was us. To tell us that “this is it, take it, or be sold” sounds like bullying to me.

By the way, our residents may have disabilities, but many of them can read. How nice of you to say that they are “a burden to taxpayers.” When the residents read insulting and stupid things like this they take it to heart.

We also have veterans at Sunnyview. For Commissioner Jim Eckstein and others, including residents, to pass out flyers on Veterans Day was in no way a show of disrespect. If anything, he was supporting those veterans who were unable to get there from Sunnyview.
