Third suspect in beating case is arrested

The third suspect charged with allegedly beating a Butler man outside a city bar last week is in custody.

Virgil M. Luster, 33, of Butler turned himself into city police about noon Tuesday.

Luster, along with Kenneth J. Fetter, 35, and Michael G. Weber, 34, both of Butler, allegedly beat James Raub, 36, and Randolph Dahl, 35, outside My Buddy’s bar on Pillow Street about 2 a.m. Oct. 29.

Fetter and Weber were arrested Monday.

The assault sent Raub to Allegheny General Hospital with severe facial injuries.

Raub’s mother told police the day after the assault that her son needed reconstructive surgery and that he was in a medically induced coma, according to court documents.

Dahl suffered a swollen lip and was bleeding from the mouth.

Police believe the attack followed an altercation between the three suspects and the two victims inside the bar earlier that night.

All three men face charges of aggravated assault and simple assault and are in the Butler County Prison on $25,000 bail.
