Woman hurt this morning in truck-car crash

PENN TWP — A woman was flown by medical helicopter this morning to Allegheny General Hospital after she crashed her car into the back of a flatbed trailer on Route 8.
Township officer Jack Ripper said Krystal Koch, unknown age, of Mars had severe injuries to her legs from the 9:53 a.m. accident.
Ripper said the truck was pulling out of NES Rentals when Koch collided with its flatbed.
Ripper said the truck was mostly pulled into the northbound lane, but its bed was still angled in the southbound lane.
Koch was driving south when the truck pulled onto the road. Ripper said she tried to swerve right to avoid the truck, but crashed into the rear axel of the truck.
Township police were assisted by the Middlesex Township Police, the Penn Township Volunteer Fire Department, and the Butler County Sheriff’s office.
No charges have been filed as the investigation is ongoing, Ripper said.
