FAIRBANKS, Alaska — A 79-year-old man whose Alaska residency is in dispute has been charged with 32 hunting infractions.

Alaska Wildlife Troopers say LeRoy Gerner for five years has obtained and used Alaska resident hunting licenses while maintaining residency in Pennsylvania.

Gerner splits his time between Butler and Alaska. The investigation began last month after he shot a bull moose near his summer home in Eureka.

State records indicate Gerner since 2009 has received a Pennsylvania homestead tax exemption, which is available only to residents for their primary home.

Troopers say Gerner’s driver’s license and passport indicate he’s a Pennsylvania resident.

Gerner was scheduled for arraignment Friday, but he reportedly did not appear and a $250 warrant was issued for his arrest.
