Suspect arrested in Butler shooting case

PHILADELPHIA — The man wanted for an attempted homicide at a busy Butler intersection was arrested Tuesday in his native Philadelphia.

Hassan “Money” Lamar Brack, 26, had been wanted and was considered armed and dangerous since Aug. 19, when he allegedly shot a man at East Cunningham and South McKean streets in Butler.

City police referred questions to Butler County Sheriff Mike Slupe, who said he did not know the details of Brack’s arrest.

However, Slupe said officials here will bring Brack back to the county on Wednesday to face charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, illegal possession of a firearm and reckless endangerment.

Brack, a convicted drug dealer and robber, allegedly got out of a sport utility vehicle, came up to another vehicle and shot it’s passenger, 25-year-old Brannon Irvin, in the chest.

The shooting took place about 7:30 p.m. amid other traffic and witnesses.

Police at that time said they believed Brack, who has an extensive criminal record, might have returned to Philadelphia or might have stayed in the Butler area, where he had been living in the Island neighborhood.
