Touching truck show

On behalf of the officers and members of the Slippery Rock Lions Club, I want to thank the many sponsors and participants who helped make our recent “Touch A Truck” event at Slippery Rock Area High School a roaring success.

Without the cooperation of John Osborne and the staff of Slippery Rock Area High School, our event could never have taken place.

Special thanks also go to our sponsors, C.W. Howard Insurance, SJA Trucking Services, Slippery Rock Giant Eagle, the SRU Federal Credit Union and the Slippery Rock University Residence Life Office.

The Slippery Rock Lions Club also thanks the companies that supplied vehicles for our guests to get inside looks at: Slippery Rock University and Borough Police, Superior Ambulance, Armstrong Cable, Mercer County Animal Rescue, Dale McClymonds Inc., Stat Medavac helicopter from the Grove City Medical Center, Landstar Trucking and Walsh Equipment Inc.

And we cannot forget about the great entertainment and balloon animals provided by the Shriners clowns to youngsters young and not-so-young.

We also would not have had a successful event without the support of those individuals who enjoyed a bright, sunny Western Pennsylvania day touching, climbing into and over the vehicles on site.

Proceeds from the event will allow the Slippery Rock Lions Club to continue its 50-year tradition of lending a helping paw to those individuals in our community in need of sight or hearing assistance equipment or other needs they cannot afford.

We look forward to our second annual “Touch A Truck” event next summer. It will be even bigger and better than this year’s.
