Tax bill madness

For decades my mother, who is 89, owned a mobile home in Butler County on which she faithfully paid taxes.

Several years ago, after moving Tennessee to live with my wife and me, she sold it (gave it, actually) to the owner of the mobile home court where it is located. Since then, we’ve continued to receive tax bills on the property, including threats to auction the property for delinquent taxes.

We’ve written the tax collector several times, providing notarized documents and a copy of the bill of sale that should have explained that she no longer owns property in Butler County, but we’ve received no response other than more bills.

What do we have to do to get through to these people? We’re trying to find a lawyer to represent us, but in the meantime, the Butler County tax collector is achieving nothing but adding stress to an elderly woman’s life when she can least cope with it.

Can someone help — or please direct us to someone who can?
