Helpers rallied Relay

As the co-chair for the Butler Relay for Life this past weekend at the Butler Farm Show Grounds, I am writing to share my joy and amazement in the kindness of others in Butler County.

People from all walks of life gave their time and made donations to benefit the American Cancer Society.

Brave volunteers didn’t hesitate Friday evening when high winds began to blow our tents and canopies away. People dropped what they were doing to band together during the brief but powerful storm.

Baglier’s of Butler sent out volunteers early Saturday morning to repair the large tent they had donated and many local businesses including Window World, D’Anthony’s, Mazzanti’s Beans & Cream, Marburger Dairy and others chipped in to make the event special for both cancer survivors in our area and volunteers walking to raise money.

Despite the rocky start, this year’s Relay for Life was a huge success thanks to the many dedicated volunteers who stepped up to make it happen. It fills my heart to be surprised by the generosity of others. To everyone who participated in the Relay for Life, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
