A letter writer (“Who is Metcalfe?” published July 9) asks, “but who is Daryl Metcalfe?” I would like to answer:

God is looking for a few good men and women who will not compromise. He found that man in state Rep. Daryl Metcalfe regarding the stand he took regarding supporters of same-sex marriage. I’m sure he knew when he made the stand for truth, that the consequence would be great, to stand up against opposition.

We need a few more good men and women who will boldly stand for God’s truth and not back down.

I am speaking to myself here also. If I had been in Metcalfe’s position, would I have taken a stand for truth, or would I have cowardly compromised by being silent or looking the other way?

What I do know is that God will bless him for standing for truth.
