Value freedom

In 1776, our Founding Fathers selflessly risked all to break free of tyranny and create a new country. Based on liberty, freedom and a government of the people, the United States became the greatest nation on Earth. I’m thankful to the founders who left this legacy of freedom and prosperity. I’m also thankful to all the veterans who, over the years, have fought and sacrificed to preserve this nation and to advance the cause of freedom throughout the world.

My thankfulness is tempered with a fear that we, as a country, have come to take our freedom and liberty for granted. We have slowly allowed our government to expand and become increasingly intrusive and dysfunctional. Over the past five years I have watched this unfold at an increasing pace.

My fears about the future of America are tempered by the recent developments in Egypt. A populace faced with a dysfunctional government rejected tyranny and demanded change.

America, when do we finally decide this is tyranny? And do we have the will to demand change as our Founding Fathers once did?
