A Butler County pastor this week succumbed to injuries suffered in a car crash six days earlier in Center Township, authorities said.

Kenneth C. Hall, 88, of Center Township died Sunday at Allegheny General Hospital’s trauma unit in Pittsburgh.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office determined Hall died of severe internal injuries in the wreck June 17 on Route 8 at the Clearview Mall.

He recently retired as the visitation pastor at the North Main Street Church of God in Butler Township.

State police said Hall was a passenger in a 1999 Chrysler Sebring that his wife, Joyce M. Hall, 85, was driving just after 10 a.m.

While attempting to park at the NexTier Bank branch at the mall, Joyce Hall “hit the gas pedal instead of the brake and struck a parked vehicle,” according to a police report.

The parked car was unoccupied.

The Halls’ car struck a curb before going down an embankment and hitting the northbound shoulder of Route 8.

The couple, both wearing seat belts, suffered what were believed to be minors injuries.

The only visible injury to Kenneth Hall, police said, was described as “a little bump on the head.”

The Halls both refused medical treatment.

“Mr. Hall even signed a waiver,” said Lt. Eric Hermick. “But a trooper insisted that he go and get checked out.”

Both were taken by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital. Kenneth Hall was later transferred to AGH.

Police said the investigation continues.
