Last week Slippery Rock University hosted the VIP Sports Camp, which is sponsored by District Lions Clubs and provides a great experience for children with visual impairment.

I want to commend the camp director, Lion Wendy Fagan, for her hard work in setting up the camp as well as involving student volunteers from the Slippery Rock University Campus and Slippery Rock town Lions Clubs.

As a member of Lions for more than 35 years, I was never as proud as I was seeing these young people compete and work on activities which, without this camp, would be out of their realm of possibility. The student volunteers were amazing with their enthusiasm and dedication to the young campers.

The camp runs every June for five days and involves these young campers in many activities from early morning to late night. This is truly one of the most valuable assets our region has. It is my fervent hope that we are able to continue to serve these young people for many years to come.

I would like to congratulate and thank the Lions Clubs of District 14-N for their continued support of the camp.
