Zelie woman dies from injuries from accident
JACKSON TWP — An 88-year-Zelienople woman died Wednesday of injuries suffered a day earlier when a garbage truck struck her car in front of the Northgate Plaza on Route 19, authorities said today. Doris Goehring was pronounced dead at 7:45 a.m. at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, where she was taken after the wreck. She died of severe injuries to her body, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office. Her son, 51-year-old Randi Goehring of Zelienople, a passenger in the 2007 Chevrolet Malibu, also was taken to AGH with injuries not considered life-threatening, said township police Chief Terry Seilhamer today. His condition was not known this morning. Police said Goehring was attempting to leave the shopping center about 10:25 a.m. Tuesday when she pulled into the path of the 2013 Mack truck owned by Vogel Disposal Service. “She was trying to make a left to go south on Route 19,” Seilhamer said. “She looked left then right instead of left-right-left. She didn’t see the truck.” Larry Peth, 39, of Renfrew, who was driving the northbound truck, was unable to stop in time. Peth was not injured. Police said they spoke to several witnesses and determined Peth was not speeding. No charges were filed.
