About two summers ago, the Highfield Community Center stopped maintaining its playground as it had in the past. Last summer I contacted Dave Savage, president of the Highfield Community Center, about the poor condition of this kids’ area. I was told there was no one to take care of the play area, and the president was trying to find rubber mulch for the play area’s safety. After a period of time, a sign was posted on the play area stating that the playground was closed. After learning about this situation from my grandnieces and my wife, I looked into it and found mulch in the Butler area that was needed to solve the playground problem.
Highfield is becoming a younger community with young couples and their children. Also, the older people have many nieces, nephews and grandchildren of all ages that used to frequent the play area of Highland.
