Big rig overturns in Buffalo Township
BUFFALO TWP — A tractor-trailer carrying 1.5 tons of watermelons toppled onto its side Wednesday afternoon while traveling on an exit ramp from the northbound lanes of Route 28.
Kittanning state police report the Freightliner driven by Mohammed Mansour, 34, of Grand Rapids, Mich., failed to make the curve in the ramp leading to Route 356. It landed on the driver's side about 2 p.m.
Mansour, who had minor injuries, was cited for not driving at a safe speed.
The Buffalo Township and Sarver volunteer fire departments as well as Freeport EMS assisted.
The exit 17 ramp was shut down while the accident was cleared. Crews left by 7:51 p.m.
