Ex-teacher charged in student sex cases

CHERRY TWP — A suspended Moniteau High School teacher is accused of having sexual misconduct with a handful of current and former female students over the past three years.

The charges were filed today by state police against Jonathan Crum, 26, who is suspended without pay from the Moniteau School District.

The charges include more than a dozen counts of institutional sexual assault.

Crum made no comment during or after his preliminary arraignment at the Chicora office of District Judge Lewis Stoughton.

Crum taught 11th grade English and AP European history.

According to the probable cause filed Monday by state police, the allegations involve five girls, who are current or former students. The earliest incident was in 2009.
