2 fishermen robbed at gunpoint

SLIPPERY ROCK TWP, Lawrence County — State police continue to search today for two men who robbed two Butler County men at gunpoint Saturday evening while the victims were fishing at Kennedy Mills off Frew Mill Road.

The suspects are described as white, early to mid-20s, 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet tall and having a medium build.

One of the robbers has short brown hair, slight scruffy facial hair and a slight tan. He had the black, small-caliber semi-automatic handgun with chrome on the barrel.

The second suspect has short blond hair, is clean shaven, has a light complexion and was using a walking stick with green twine at the top and bottom.

Police report Liam Hess, 18, of Zelienople and Luc Eppinger, 18, of Harmony were fishing about 7 p.m. when the suspects asked to use a cell phone.

After the victims gave the other man a cell phone, the first suspect pulled out the pistol and demanded everything they had.

The robbers made off with a wallet, money, a backpack and other possessions. Before fleeing, they told the victims to not call police or they would be shot.

New Castle and Butler state police collected evidence at the scene.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call New Castle state police at 724-598-2211.
