Crash in Buffalo Township injures driver

BUFFALO TWP — The driver of a vehicle that hit a fire hydrant, a gas meter and a tree on Ekastown Road on Sunday night was flown by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital for treatment.

Assistant Fire Chief Mike George of the Sarver Volunteer Fire Company said this morning the male driver was conscious, but trapped inside the Chevrolet Blazer.

“We had to extricate him,” George said.

The northbound lane of the road was shut down while the accident was cleared.

The Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Company also responded to the 11:48 p.m. 911 call. Crews cleared the scene at 1:54 a.m. today.

Further information, including the name of the driver, was unavailable.
