Chad Kort, 17, earned the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 16.
He is the son of Willis and Kay Kort of Butler.
For his Eagle Scout project he built a 15-foot-chimney-swift kiosk for the Butler-Freeport rails to trails. It is located by Father Marinaro Park.
He has earned 34 merit badges.
Chad is a junior at Butler High School, and he plays percussion in the marching band.
Girl Scouts creating butterfly gardenMars Girl Scout Junior Troop 20464 is creating a butterfly garden at Adams Township Community Park for their Bronze Award project.The troop, part of the Trefoil Service Unit, will conduct an opening ceremony for the garden at 10 a.m. May 25 and will release butterflies at the park on Three Degree Road.Over a period of months, the troop members have planned the garden, planted flowers, made signs and raised the butterflies that will be released.The girls hope to promote nature and good health, hoping people will walk the park trail to view the butterfly garden.The Bronze Award is a team project and the highest honor Junior Girl Scouts can achieve.
