3rd top administrator will leave SRU

SLIPPERY ROCK — More administrative changes are coming at Slippery Rock University.

Constance Foley, vice president for student life, will retire May 13.

She is the third member of the seven-member university cabinet, which is made up of top university administrators that advises the president, to leave SRU this year. These personnel moves have taken place under SRU President Cheryl Norton, who started at SRU in July, replacing retired President Robert Smith.

Although retiring, Foley said she has applied for a number of jobs. She said she could not comment on whether her retirement was voluntary.

Foley, 64, of Slippery Rock Township started at SRU in 2006. It was not clear who will serve in the position in the interim before a replacement is found.

On April 15 SRU announced that Charles Curry, vice president for finance and administration and one-time acting university president, will resign Friday.

SRU will do a national search for Curry’s replacement. Until then, Molly Mercer, assistant vice president for finance, will serve in the interim.

Earlier this year, Bill Williams, provost and vice president for academic affairs, retired. Williams, 67, indicated in 2012 that he would retire within about a year.

In an e-mail, Norton said that there will be several new programs coming to SRU, but she did not answer questions about Curry and Foley leaving or any other changes.
