SRU VP will be missed

In the April 21 edition of the Butler Eagle, I read that Charles Curry, Slippery Rock University’s longtime vice president for finance and administration, will be resigning, effective May 3.

As an SRU faculty member in English and one who has interacted with him in the past, I can say that he will be sorely missed; he is a fine individual.

Curry also had a very important distinction to his credit: He was SRU’s highest-ranked administrator of color and, as such, I hope that the dynamic new president of the university, Cheryl J. Norton, will hire someone of such caliber as Curry.

In short, Curry has been an administrative workhorse who quietly did his due diligence without complaints or flinching. And, when he became SRU’s interim president last year, he reached the pinnacle of his career, serving with integrity and honor.

Curry’s shoes will be hard to fill.
