Ruth E. Schawalder of Magee Road, Perry Township, passed away Monday at UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Township.

She was born in Pittsburgh to the late Robert and Elizabeth Wagner Landon.

She married Cornelius J. Schawalder on May 15, 1946, and he preceded her in death in 2011.

Mrs. Schawalder was a member of St. Christopher at the Lake Catholic Church in Prospect.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Paul Schawalder and Lisa Bonacci of Pittsburgh; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Bill Deffner of Portersville; eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Robert and Daniel Schawalder; a sister, Delores Bott; and a brother, Robert Landon.
