Restore Glade Run

It is trout season in Western Pennsylvania and, again, Glade Run Lake stands empty.

This lake contributed $1.2 million to the local economy per year, and it is estimated to take $4.2 million to repair and restore. It pays for itself in four years, but the lake stands empty.

Osprey, bald eagles, geese, ducks and heron visit the place where for 50 years they have fed and raised their young — but the lake stands empty.

People in our community need the jobs that reconstructing the dam will bring, and by the economic activity the lake provides. But the lake stands empty.

Many people can’t wait to take their children and grandchildren to where they learned to fish and hunt — but the lake stands empty.

Other dams in the state have received funding and are being rebuilt, but Glade Run Lake stands empty.

The state Fish and Boat Commission, the governor, our state lawmakers and our county commissioners all say they want the lake rebuilt, but right now their words seem a lot like our lake — empty.
