QUESTION: Why did you become a teacher?

ANSWER: From early childhood, I remember always wanting to be a teacher and utilizing my creative and artistic talents. I love the idea of facilitating new objectives, advanced thinking and problem solving skills to elementary children. Throughout college, I loved creating thematic units and the materials that went along with those units.

QUESTION: What is one sentence that sums up what you believe is the key to teaching?

ANSWER: In addition to teaching district standards, it is important that children learn to make good decisions and take responsibility for their actions, to utilize good problem solving skills and to acquire the ability to focus on their learning.

QUESTION: When you’re not teaching, you most likely can be found doing what?

ANSWER: I love to travel. I have been fortunate enough to take various opportunities to travel the U.S., Italy and Greece.

QUESTION: What is one thing about you that likely would surprise your students?

ANSWER: I danced throughout my school years — jazz and tap being my favorite. I also used to teach dance classes.
