County commissioners continue feuding at meeting
Butler County commissioners Bill McCarrier and Dale Pinkerton this morning berated fellow Commissioner Jim Eckstein for his ongoing behavior, damaging the county financially and creating dysfunction in government. Pinkerton said during the commissioners meeting Eckstein continues to lie about what’s happening in county government, which costs time and money to refute. Pinkerton said Eckstein’s actions also have resulted in multiple legal issues at the taxpayers’ expense. The county previously settled one sexual discrimination complaint against Eckstein. He faces a second one that is currently under investigation by a Pittsburgh firm. Pinkerton said Eckstein is not kept in the dark about county business; it’s a lack of understanding of how government works. Pinkerton said Eckstein has given the county a bad reputation statewide. McCarrier also chided Eckstein, accusing him of slandering others. Eckstein reiterated he’s done what he was elected to do. He blamed Pinkerton and McCarrier for spending more money than they had to in addressing such issues as the discrimination complaints.
