Examine priorities

Years in the future, when we look back at the recent auction purchases of Princess Diana’s dresses for more than $1 million, how will we react?
What kind of society puts so much value on material objects such as dresses? Why wasn’t the money donated to an orphanage or food bank, for medical research, for repair of damaged water supplies, to hurricane victims, for scholarships?
Maybe Pope Francis can lead us to a proper path of reflection where we can examine our values and determine where our priorities lie.
Perhaps our path might even lead us to one of compassion, where our focus will be on others in our midst.
