Prospect teen dies in 2-vehicle accident

CENTER TWP — A road left slushy by snow and ice was blamed for a two-vehicle crash Monday morning that killed a Butler County teenager, state police said.
Investigators said 19-year-old Paige N. Organ of Prospect died when she lost control of her car on Route 38 and struck the back of a tractor-trailer.
County Coroner William Young III pronounced her dead at the scene of the 11:10 a.m. crash. She died of severe injuries to her head, neck and chest.
Police said Organ was driving south on Route 38 just south of Pine Tract Road when her 2007 Nissan Versa crossed into the opposing lane.
The car was rounding a right-hand curve in the road that was “slushy and ice covered,” according to a police report.
The front end of Organ’s vehicle struck the trailer of a northbound 2011 Peterbilt tractor truck driven by Dennis P. Kemper, 54, of Sheffield, Warren County.
The car “partially under-rode the back two axles” of the trailer, the report said.
Organ, who was not wearing a seat belt, likely died on impact, said Chief Greg Brewster of the Unionville Volunteer Fire Department.
Kemper, who was wearing a seat belt, was not hurt. His trailer had a bent fender and axle damage.
Organ was a 2012 graduate of Slippery Rock High School and the Butler County Vocational-Technical School’s auto technology program.
The Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home is handling funeral arrangements.
